The Douay-Rheims Bible is a translation of the Latin Vulgate, which is St. Jerome's meticulous translation from the original Hebrew and Greek. Translated between the years 1582 and 1610 and revised by Bishop Richard Challoner from 1749-1752, it was the only Catholic translation commonly in use for over 200 years and many maintain that it is still the best and safest version of the Bible in English. The print is a larger 12-point font with the words of Christ printed in red. The black cover is a soft, flexible imitation leather.
