PEWTER ST. BRIGID'S CROSS
St. Brigid is one of the patron saints of Ireland. The country was still largely pagan during her lifetime and she, like her contemporary, St. Patrick, worked tirelessly for its conversion. When she received a request to instruct a dying chieftain in the Faith, she hastened to his bedside. However, because he was delirious, she could not teach him and so began weaving a cross out of rushes and praying for his conversion. When his mind cleared, he asked the meaning of the symbol and was converted before he died. Made of lead-free pewter. Measures 5" square.
