ANNUNCIATION STATUE - 10"
This sculpture is a beautiful representation of the Annunciation - a feast in the Church that dates back at least to the fifth century and is celebrated each year as a great Solemnity on the 25th of March, exactly nine months before Christmas. An excellent reminder of Mary's fiat and her impeccable obedience to the Will of God, this ceramic statue is a great aid to personal meditation and prayer. Mounted on a black base, it measures 7"W x 10"H x 5"D and is hand-painted in mostly muted tones except for the royal blue cloth covering Mary's prie-dieu and the brilliant gilding on the Angel Gabriel's wings.
These unique statues are made in Colombia. Each one is individually hand-painted by talented women who are either widows, single mothers, or those who are sole providers for their families. Slight color and design variations may occur.
