This is a moving, portrayal of the life of Jewish philosopher, Catholic convert and Carmelite martyr, Edith Stein. It captures her interior struggles as well as the great conflicts that resulted from her conversion. Deeply influenced by the writings of St. Teresa of Avila, she took the name Teresa Benedicta of the Cross when she entered the Carmelites. Martyred in Auschwitz in 1942, she was canonized by John Paul II in 1998. This film shows how two worlds were united within her, the Jew and the Christian, in absolute coherence in her search for truth. Filmed in Italian with English & Spanish subtitles.
