Memento Mori mug features an ancient Latin idiom which means "Remember that you must die". The saints would frequently keep reminders of death before them so that they would live their life in such a way that they would die well, and so be happy with God in heaven for eternity.
Although originally designed as a meditation for the Lenten Season, this is also an appropriate reminder for the month of November and particularly the 2nd day of November, which is dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. It is a time when we remember in a special way, all those who, though “assured of their eternal salvation” may still need to “undergo purification” that makes possible “the holiness necessary to enter the joy of Heaven” —
Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 1030. On the front is a skull encircled with flowers and the words:
memento mori which is Latin for
remember death.
On the back it reads:
"TEACH US TO COUNT
OUR DAYS ARIGHT,
THAT WE MAY GAIN
WISDOM OF HEART"
--PSALM 90:12
