This beautiful statue of Our Lady of Montligeon is replica of the stunning statue in the sanctuary of the Shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon in Normandy, France. It is made of white alabaster with golden details and measures approximately 8½”H x 4”W.

Why call Our Lady Liberatrix?
Christ is the only mediator between God and men. He alone frees us from the slavery of sin. Mary, however, is associated in a most unique way in Jesus’ salvific plan. As reminded by Vatican II, “By her maternal charity, she cares for the (brothers and sisters) of her Son, who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and cultics, until they are led into the happiness of their true home.” (Lumen Gentium, n. 62) Mary’s intercession for men “until they are led into the happiness of their true home” extends over to Purgatory. Thus, we can specifically invoke her for souls undergoing purification.
The Shrine of Montligeon is devoted to praying for the deceased. People come from near and afar to entrust their beloved to Our Lady of Deliverance, and to pray for souls in Purgatory, all initiated by Fr. Buguet’s mere spiritual intuition. In connection with the apostolate for souls in Purgatory, the Shrine developed a ministry of compassion, and counseling for bereaved people.
