ST. BENEDICT STATUE - 8"
In this statue, St. Benedict is shown holding his Rule in his right hand and his crosier (depicting his role as Abbot) in his left hand. St. Benedict wrote the Rule in 516 for monks living communally under the authority of an abbot. It is comprised of seventy-three short chapters and its wisdom is twofold: spiritual (how to live a Christocentric life on earth) and administrative (how to run a monastery efficiently). More than half of the chapters describe how to be obedient and humble, and what to do when a member of the community is not. The remainder deals with how to regulate the work of God and how the monastery should be managed following the motto Ora et Labora – Pray and Work.
Measures approximately 3”W x 8½”H x 2¾”D.
Made of a plaster resin mix.
These unique statues are made in Colombia. Each one is individually hand-painted by talented women who are either widows, single mothers, or those who are sole providers for their families. Slight color and design variations may occur.
