ST. KATERI TEKAKWITHA STATUE - 16 1/2"
This statue of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha also known as the Lily of the Mohawks, depicts a very beautiful, postmortem image of the Saint. When St. Kateri died on April 17, 1680, witnesses said that her emaciated face changed color and became like that of a healthy child. The lines of suffering, even the smallpox scars that she bore from the time she was four, suddenly disappeared and the touch of a smile came upon her lips shortly after her death. Canonized in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI, we celebrate her feast day on July 14th.
Made of a resin-mix; it measures 16½"H.
These unique statues are made in Colombia. Each one is individually hand-painted by talented women who are either widows, single mothers, or those who are sole providers for their families. Slight color and design variations may occur.
