ST. MARTIN DE PORRES SMALL STATUE
This is a beautifully hand-painted statue of St. Martin de Porres, a Dominican lay brother from Peru. St. Martin became known for his care of the poor and the sick; he founded an orphanage and ministered to African slaves brought to Lima. St. Martin experienced many mystical gifts including bilocation and aerial flights. He died at the age of 59 and was canonized in 1962 by Pope St. John XXIII - we celebrate his feast day on November 3rd. St. Martin de Porres is the patron saint of barbers, innkeepers, public health workers, mixed-race people and all those seeking racial harmony. Ceramic statue measures 4"H.
