ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL FRAMED CANVAS (15¾” x 18¾”)
This dramatic portrayal of The Archangel Michael defeating Satan was originally created by Guido Reni (1575 – 1642) an Italian painter of the early Baroque period. In this painting, St. Michael emerges as the victor of a terrible and violent struggle — a battle between good and evil; darkness and light. His stance is strong and defiant with his sword poised for the final blow yet the countenance of his face is calm with no trace of malice for his foe.
The painting was commissioned in 1630 by Cardinal Barberini, to be placed in the Capuchin Church of Santa Maria della Concezione, in Rome, and is still there to this day. This church contains the body of St. Felix of Cantalice and the tomb of St. Crispin of Viterbo.
This beautiful giclée reproduction is printed on fine art canvas and is framed in a Venezia gold wood frame with a wire hanger.
Measures 15 3/8”W x 18 3/8”H.
