This film features previously unknown facts about the life of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe — from his childhood through his heroic decision to sacrifice his own life to save a fellow prisoner at Auschwitz. The movie brings to life an unusual man who gave his life to save the lives of others; a visionary who overcame human limitations. His courage, faith, and firm belief in Mary, the Immaculate Conception, made him exceptional.
The docudrama flows between scenes from the saint's life — depicted by great Polish actors and actresses: Adam Woronowicz, Cezary Pazura, Artur Barcis, Maciej Musial, Antoni Pawlicki, Dominika Figurska, Slawomir Orzechowski, and others.
The documentary-style interviews with various experts on St. Maximilian was prepared in Poland, Japan and Italy and presents the statements of experts, priests and laymen in the life of Father Maximilian. Also included is the testimony of Kazimierz Piechowski, who met Father Maximilian during his time as a prisoner in Auschwitz, and was spiritually impacted throughout his life by the words of the the future Saint.
Filmed in Polish and dubbed with English voice-overs.
